I glimpsed the odd sight of people laptopping and sipping cappucinos in the window of a laundry shop.
So I’m sitting in a laundry shop in Berlin, having a cup of coffee and a slice of rhubarb crumble. Warm air wafts from the dryers around the corner and the scent of fabric softener takes me back to being at my mum’s house.
Every now and then my chair vibrates when the machines behind me go into spin cycle and some sort of classical slash war film soundtrack plays gently in the background.
I had hoped to experience the weird and wonderful in Berlin and Freddy Leck Waschsalon just made my day. Out for an evening stroll I glimpsed the odd sight of people laptopping and sipping cappucinos in the window of a laundry shop, inside cosy yellow light and rows of stainless steel dryers. My curiosity aroused I ventured inside and found one of the coolest places in nearly two years of traveling.
Choose from a range of detergent to spice up your chai latte.
Watch the locals sort their colors from their whites.
Sip on a kaffee while pretending to be a Berlin hipster and emailing your mum to assure her you aren’t going to any of those dodgy night clubs everyone has heard about.
If only I’d brought some dirty laundy with me.
